Increase virtual memory. Add swap space. Or try to decrease Squid's usage 
of memory (this is harder, specially if you want it to be fast). What is 
your Squid's size ("ps aux|grep squid") and your swap use (highly 
system-dependent, "swapon -s" on OSF1, "free" on Linux)?
