Running squid 1.1.0 for a while without any problems on
Solaris 2.4
In the meantime I compiled and installed squid 1.1.1 :
no coredumps either :-)
System: SPARC 10/712 with 256 MB RAM
OS: Solaris 2.4 101945-42 (latest kernel jumbo patch : June 1996)
Patches: all recomended (updated for dec 1996 releases)
+ 103160-01 : libgen patch (BSD compatibility) for regex, reg...
!! Could it be this ??? As I understood from the makefiles, GNUregex
functions are independent of the native kernel routines?
Compiler used: gcc 2.7.0 (pre compiled binary from a german sun users group)
I compiled squid without tweaking Makefiles except for the
HOST_OPT = -DCACHEMGR_HOSTNAME="getfullhostname()"
in src/Makefile
If you want, you can download the entire build (src + binaries) in tgz format
from:
http://hades.sckcen.be/proxy/squid1.1.1-sol2.4-binary.tar.gz (2.3 M !)
for closer inspection.
Hope this helps a little bit

Subject: version 1.1.x and Solaris 2.4
I have received numerous coredump reports from Squid users on
Solaris 2.4. It seems to coredump in the GNU regex functions.
If anyone is successfully using squid 1.1.x on Solaris 2.4 could
you post your system configuration, including which C compiler
was used?
