| Now I am running squid 1.1beta28 on a dual pentium 133 with 192Mb RAM on SCO

| (I though should be powerful enough :-) I am connected via a 256k leased
line
| to my parent squid cache's which respond normally within 10ms .. 50ms,
| according to cachemgr. I have 12 dns server running of which 5 are not used
yet...
However if I set the cache_mem to 16Mb the squid will not run for more than
5-30 minutes. It will just restart without giving any error messages. What is
going on?
I put in the changes in the cache-parameters and now it seems to cache more, I
see the cache grow, however the internal cache is still only 8Mb, because I
cannot set it higher. I heard from another squid cache user (my parent squid
cache) that he had to tweak his unix kernel quite a bit in order to make it run
efficiently. However I was able to have a very fast proxy server in the
beginning with only a pentium 60 and 96Mb RAM on a 128k leased line, but now my
dual pentium system cannot even match that performance with a 256k leased line
:-( The operating system is the same, what can be wrong? My CPU is only used
around 30% and memory around 30% as well... disk usage 10%... I give an excerpt
from the access.log
