I'd have thought there are more important things to get right/put
into squid first,
[ -f /usr/local/squid/squid.pid ] && kill -USR1 `cat /usr/local/squid/squid.pid && sleep 30 && gzip /usr/local/squid/logs/access.log.0
or something like, that seems to be the easiest way of doing it
at the same time as the log files are rotated.
