Hi Mattias, can you explain a bit more what problems are appearing due
to this bug?

FYI: I'm looking for information both to make the commit message
clearer, and to track down any (possibly vague) bug reports which may
need closing or re-testing when this goes in.

The patch itself gets my +1 already.
