Did I? Don't remember who did it, but I have a memory of it being
discussed. IIRC it was triggered by someone sending a patch to read
config files via popen.
Quick check.. apparently I did commit a version of this to HEAD in
april. In HEAD there is the ability to use a generated squid.conf (even
documented in the manpage..):
squid -f "!command ..."
or
squid -f "|command ..."
This mechanism is a bit arcane as it is just a command pipeline and it
is up to the reader to figure our how to structure his squid.conf
generator, but can be used to for example feed a m4 parsed squid.conf
into squid.
