It depends on what you want to do.
* If you want to access internet objects via squid, using a TCP
connection and your own code, you should read RFC 2616 before you do
*anything* else.
* If you want to write some internet accessing program, but don't want
to implement HTTP yourself, you might check out libwww from www.www.org.
* If you want to alter squid to do different things, you should read RFC
2616, and the squid Programmers Guide to be familiar with HTTP and what
squid does.
