Well.. using TCP for syslog has it's issues as well, and are usually not
the default (some have had TCP default for a while, and then switched
back to UDP).
There are issues with
a) When the remote syslog daemon restart
b) What to do when there is a communication problem. Usually causes the
sending process to block if much data is logged.
Sort of the same issues as when using a pipe for the log.
