AHA! It seems you committed to the HEAD branch rather than etc_hosts .
Henrik then synched up squid-HEAD with cvs.squid-cache.org, overwriting
your changes (I was wondering why the last sync was so big..)

Added code to read and parse /etc/hosts upon start and reconfigure.
This is especially useful when using the internal DNS code which blissfully
ignores /etc/hosts.

As you can see you committed to HEAD, and hno's sync backed them out.
What did you type to cvsmkbranch, and what directories did you end up with?
It should create a directory in .. with the new branch checked out.
