I tried to run a Squid (Squid-1.2beta20-1-henrik, Linux 2.0.32,
gcc-2.7.2.1) using the libraries (pthreads 0.7, libc 5.4.44) from the
ftp site mentioned on the above page, but it does not work well.
Symptoms:
* aio_queue_request complaints on startup
* ~2 seconds to handle cache hits
* pconn-banger failing when running more than one outstanding request at
a time (it defaults to 10).
The base installation is a RH4.2 system.
I think we need to be very careful when recommending async-io on Linux.
